Gilding the Lily

"To gild the lily" means to ornament or embellish something that is already beautiful and does not require it. While the connotation of the phrase implies wastefulness or folly, I don't think anyone would complain about the addition of golden pre-sunrise tones to the picture-perfect peak fall foliage in this image of Vermont's Essex County.
