We had heard that the best time to see wildlife at Yellowstone National Park was in the morning. This was our first morning of the trip, and while we didn't go out specifically looking for animals, we found some anyway.
As we drove towards the Norris Geyser Basin, we happened upon this bison having breakfast, right next to the road. I immediately pulled over to take a few shots in the golden morning light; this is natural behavior the first time you see a bison in Yellowstone. They are pretty much everywhere, though; after a day or two this excitement fades to indifference -- "oh, it's just another bison" -- and even disappointment -- "I thought that was a bear!" But they are still very majestic animals.
