Welcome to Desktop Scenes!
Modern life brings with it many joys, but also many stresses. We all could use a nice vacation; to go to a peaceful place to relax and appreciate the beauty of the world. Vacations cost time and money, however, so most of us can only take one vacation a year -- if we're lucky.

For those times when you need a quick break but can't get away, you can now take a virtual vacation any time with Desktop Scenes! Each SceneSet contains high-quality, full-color photos from a natural area, national park or other place of interest. You can view these beautiful pictures online, right in your Web browser, letting you experience what it is like to visit a noteworthy location.

If you enjoy the photos, you can also purchase a screensaver / slideshow that you can run any time on your personal computer. This will let you take a "virtual vacation" any time you wish. And best of all -- unlike a real vacation -- the cost is under $10 for each SceneSet, which helps support the creation of more SceneSets in the future!

Note that unlike some sites and screensavers, DesktopScenes.com contain NO "spyware" and do not require registration.

My name is Charles, and I started DesktopScenes.com as a vehicle to share my love of photography with others -- and hopefully, help me partially cover some of the costs of this expensive hobby. :) Please look around, view the online SceneSet gallery, read more about the available downloadable SceneSets or read the FAQ. Check the Support page if you need assistance, or contact me with your feedback. Thanks for visiting, and please check back regularly, as I am adding new SceneSets regularly.

June 21, 2007:
  • Two New SceneSets! Hey everyone! Well, it's now 2007 and I am even farther behind in processing my images and creating new SceneSets than I was last year. Oh well! I did get going on the huge number of pictures I took from my family's three-week Canadian Rockies trip in 2004, though. Since that trip actually started with brief visits to two natural locations in Montana, I begin with these two new sets: Scenes from the National Bison Range and Scenes from Glacier National Park. I hope you enjoy them!

If you want to license either SceneSet for just a few dollars, that helps offset my costs in time and equipment. Remember that you can also view all of the SceneSets online in your Web browser, absolutely free! These images are specially sized for Web viewing and include detailed commentary. I have both a Flash-based SceneSet viewer, and conventional HTML pages as well -- visit the online SceneSet gallery for all the details and to access the online photos.
