Current news announcements for the site are located on the home page. I archive older news items to this page.

February 20, 2011:
  • Current Status: After many years of putting my photography on the back burner, I am now hard at work on a large number of new photos, and planning to redesign and relaunch DesktopScenes.com in the spring. This will include a complete reworking of the site, options to allow purchase of individual photos and much more. It also will include hundreds of new photos in several dozen sets.

In the meantime, I have discovered that the old screensavers do not work on newer systems. To avoid confusion and disappointment, I have disabled the purchase of these screensavers until I can rework them.

Thanks to all who have supported me in the past.

June 21, 2007:
  • Two New SceneSets! Hey everyone! Well, it's now 2007 and I am even farther behind in processing my images and creating new SceneSets than I was last year. Oh well! I did get going on the huge number of pictures I took from my family's three-week Canadian Rockies trip in 2004, though. Since that trip actually started with brief visits to two natural locations in Montana, I begin with these two new sets: Scenes from the National Bison Range and Scenes from Glacier National Park. I hope you enjoy them!

If you want to license either SceneSet for just a few dollars, that helps offset my costs in time and equipment. Remember that you can also view all of the SceneSets online in your Web browser, absolutely free! These images are specially sized for Web viewing and include detailed commentary. I have both a Flash-based SceneSet viewer, and conventional HTML pages as well -- visit the online SceneSet gallery for all the details and to access the online photos.

June 16, 2006:
  • Relaunch! I am very pleased to announce that I am today relaunching a completely redesigned DesktopScenes.com! I have revised the entire site and made some pretty significant changes.

The most significant of these is that all of the images in all of the SceneSets can now be viewed online in your Web browser, absolutely free! These images are specially sized for Web viewing and include detailed commentary. I have both a Flash-based SceneSet viewer, and conventional HTML pages as well -- visit the online SceneSet gallery for all the details and to access the online photos.

With this change there is no longer any need for "demo" SceneSets and I have removed them. I have also updated all the other pages and made appropriate changes. I hope you enjoy the new site!

September 23, 2004: September 18, 2004:
  • New SceneSet: Autumn Scenes From Southern Vermont! Just in time for the start of this year's fall foliage display in New England, I have completed work on my latest SceneSet: Autumn Scenes From Southern Vermont. This screensaver/slideshow contains 65 beautiful images that showcase the incomparable natural beauty of autumn in my home state. There is also a free version containing a selection of 13 excellent photographs. Please check out the free SceneSet and if you like what you see, consider the purchase of the inexpensive full version to help me cover the costs of running the site and creating future SceneSets. Thanks!

August 21, 2004:
  • Two New SceneSets! I am pleased to announce the first two new SceneSets since the initial creation of DesktopScenes.com. They are two lovely sets that I created from photos I took to the San Francisco area in September 2003: Scenes From Muir Woods and Scenes From A Day At Yosemite. As always, there are both free and full licensed versions. Please check them out the free versions -- and if you like them, consider purchasing the very inexpensive full versions, to help support the site and future SceneSet creation. Thanks!

April 16, 2004:
  • Spring Sale! Spring is in the air and I am excited to be getting my photography back in gear for another season. To celebrate, I am having my first-ever sale on Desktop Scenes -- the price of each of my three current SceneSets has been reduced by a full 30% for a limited time only! Thanks for considering the license of a SceneSet; your support makes this site and future SceneSets possible.
March 25, 2004:
  • A Few Tweaks: I have made a number of changes to the descriptions and buttons on the site. One of the main goals of this is to better emphasize the availability of free, fully-functional SceneSets in addition to the ones that I am selling for a small fee. These are now called "Free SceneSets" rather than "Demo SceneSets".
  • More "Subtlety" for the Free SceneSets: I have re-done all the images in the Free SceneSets so the text overlay is a small fraction of its former size. They no longer block your ability to view the pictures in the Free SceneSets. Most people should find that these SceneSets are attractive to use in their own right, even if they don't want to pay for a full SceneSet!
March 22, 2004:
  • Welcome! Today marks the official launch of Desktop Scenes! Thanks for visiting the site and please tell me if you like what you see.
